Project Winter Reviews
I really don’t like it. It’s not a bad game, but I’m gonna tell you how I feel about the game.
Basically, if you can get your friends and ONLY your friends to play it with, go for it. It might be fun.
If you play randoms, good luck. People only care about winning.
I came from playing among us, and I thought it’d be similar. But this sucks, it’s basically fighting. There’s no point in lying if the other survivors are gonna beat each other to death anyway. Why can you hit people anyway? Among Us works because if you’re not an impostor you can’t hurt other people, you gotta watch out. You can’t just punch people out of suspicion…
Anyway, if you like Among Us and you want something similar this isn’t it. You’ll just brawl with other players, no deceit of any kind just mindless looting garbage and shooting eachother.

The graphics are nice, and the gameplay is at first interesting. However the movements are a bit hard and awkward to grasp. It seems that it is either too easy for survivors to make it, or it is too easy for impostors to win (for instance, impostors camp at the helicopter with rifles and often manage to kill many, if not all the survivors). There is no in between. The exile voting is quite useless, and even if you spot an impostor it is extremely hard to do anything concrete about it. I think the game is nice and has potential, but it just isn’t it the right spot atm.
Devs need to put it up on humble bundle, do some marketing and/or lower the price a bit. The game is worth it, but it is competing with a game which costs 4 times less. If only it had some more players and a better filtering in the server browser, it would be literally perfect. Every game I have had I enjoyed - you actually need to think about who the traitors are as opposed to among us where you point a finger and eject.
There is a hunger and a “freeze” meter which are slowly depleting, a crafting system, traps, poisons, weapons, caches of reserves, bunkers, animals.. it is simply brilliant. There are different game modes which are 15-45 minutes long, a server browser and in game cosmetics. All in all, highly recommend on sale!
Most toxic game if you are not from the US, as people will call you a weeb based on your name and then beat you to death with an axe. Not a very enjoyable experience if you are from Asia and cannot speak Chinese, which is the dominant language in the region. And hopping on to a US server will only get you killed for being Asian. Even Among Us is more tolerable than this. This sucks.
This game has to only be fun if you play with people you know. Hopping into a random lobby and having somebody kill you because you are playing in a US server while being from SEA and getting kicked for being from asia is a pretty damn bad experience if you ask me. The most toxic game I’ve played in my entire life.

Just got this game cause it was on sale, only downside i would say is the steep price it normally has. Although after playing a bunch I Would feel comfortable spending up to 15 dollars on the game, 20 still seems a bit steep but the content is there and it seems that more is gonna be added. Would totally recommend it’s fun even when you play with randoms, there’s a ton of cool people and lobbies are quick to fill up. I do recommend!
Its a dim day, the cold has reached into your bones. This is it. The crimson stained snow around you confirms it. If only you were a little faster, that bear never would have caught you. You see the life bar dwindling on the screen, and you call out one last time for help. This time, your prayers are answered! A friend! A survivor! You won’t die this day! He runs to you, puts his arms around you, thankful to see another soul. Warmth, finally. But as you look down, you see a knife in your belly, and in the fading moments of existence, your savior turns out to be nothing more than a DIRTY FILTHY COMMIE!!!! 10/10 would drink vodka and wrestle bears again.
Eagle of Fire
There is absolutely no point in playing this game. Got it in a sale and everybody in forums agree that it was done simply to keep the player base up. The truth is that this game poise itself into making you think this is a survival game in which you need to cooperate with others to survive while traitors try to stop you but this is a complete lie. All you really need is make up your time at the very start so the other players farm resources for you then kill them. That you are a traitor or not is completely irrelevant here.
That’s the gist of this game. If you want to always fight with a loosy combat system which is not even accurate nor interesting and ALWAYS favor the aggressor then this is the game for you. If you actually think there is any kind of depth in this game then do yourself a favor and don’t even look at it.
Well, what can i say? Its a great game, way better than AmongUs, but for some reason not as popular. I think its because it costs like x4 as AmongUs does.
I had and am still having a lot of fun. Would recommend to everyone, even to people who dont like this genre. Because you will get to know a lot of people, good people, evil people, funny people, it will make you laugh out loud, literally. I played it for like 20 hours and met so much people that added me and are really good company to have around.
Its really fun game to play, and i hope i will see you in one of my Games. 10/10
I’ve met with a guy, he said he is an identity thief. Ok, i said. as long as you help us it wont be a problem.
We’ve travelled upon the map, killed wolves, got warm near the same campfire… We backed on each other, and when we finally managed to summon the helicopter, traitors suddenly attacked us but we killed them both. Everyone was waiting their turn to enter the helicopter. He stopped for a second and said: “Seems like only survivors can enter guys, im sorry.” then he pulled his axe and attacked us. I had no choice but to shoot him with the shotgun that i used to protect him earlier…
10/10 would get betrayed again…
This game is pretty good and fun, just don’t mind some ****** people. Promotional videos make it look much like a detective game but is more like a survivor game, traitor is the main enemy but you can as easily be killed by wild life if alone or after a unprepared walk in a blizzard, so you must cooperate while keeping on your toes for when the killer attacks, your better judgement will help you be more prepared for who to get help when **** goes down but you don’t need to depend on it to win, many in game act like this is a detective game, suspecting everybody and actually trying to make Among Us like discussions about who is the killer even moving away from the objective to chase and keep a eye on suspects, just don’t, if you see someone actually placing traps or killing
you fight him or just tell someone you trust and move on, the killer can change name and appearance with his victims so really the game’s objective is far from being about finding the killer’s identity but about surviving, after all even some people who aren’t the killer will try to kill you for their own personal and greedy reasons and so will you and I. Good luck.
Winter Project is by far one of the best multiplayer social deduction strategy game after Town of Salem and Among us coming right after in 3rd place. Winter Project is miles ahead of Among Us (in my opinion), and better than Town of Salem since it requires more than just simply deductive reasoning, but also requires you to be socially interactive with other to accomplish tasks. For this reason, when you start playing Winter Project, it will be quite overwhelming because of the DEPTH in Winter Project and the communication needed to effectively execute your role. It requires you to WORK with other to get tasks finish. As a result, when I first started playing, I felt a bit overwhelmed and I wasn’t that type of social person whom had the guts to speak up. Although at the time of writing this review, I merely have 16.9 hours, I have learned a lot through my experience and thanks to other. Compared to when I first started playing the game, I felt socially awkward talking to other, however this is no longer the case. It helped me to a certain degree in speaking to other and properly communicating what need to be done. Also, another thing that i found appealing is the ability to buy chests using points earn from playing matches. Those chests could be sold on the steam market including the skins you get from it. I just like the idea of it since It feel nice to have expensive and rare skin. You could also invest in the game which have it’s own tiny economy.
This game is well worth the cost. Looking at it you think its thd same as among us but thats not enitrely true. Thid game builds even more uncertainty with close proximity voice chat. Fighting back against the traitors or fellow survivors. In this game you never really know if the guy who gave you bear meat really was a friend or foe. The game has nice graphics and entertain and most important replayable gameplay that im sure to put more hours into and i havnt even tried the full game yet.
Another game in the social deduction category that is executed quite well.
The game isn’t as simple as Among Us, there are more complexities; ways to sabotage (planting bombs, poisoning consoles or food, etc.), ways to route out traitors (truth serums, ‘watch posts’…), and so it has a learning curve.
However, there are multiple roles to get within the game that keep it different and spicier! For example; you can get a role which allows you to open ‘Traitor Crates’ every so often - but if you get caught… How do you explain yourself?
It’s a solid game, very polished, but the ‘normal’ game maps are VERY large - so beware you will have to do a lot of travelling and preparing to get to the farther reaches of the map. Because you have a limit number of slots (4 items, up to 5), you have to be careful about taking supplies and equipment versus keeping space for objective items.
This game is a similar enough concept to the other, currently popular social deduction game - it has traitors, voting someone out of a safe haven, even something like vents.
It is a lot more involved than that, though - it has tools, resource gathering, weapons, map exploration, survival, crafting, traps, etc.
It’s still a social game, but there’s a lot more accent on game mechanics, teamwork, and traitorous fighting/sabotage, and less accent on lying and social deduction. And it’s a lot slower paced and a lot more “serious”-looking.
One game supports from 5 to 8 players.
More or less a first impression as a solo player, Done lots of normal games then finally had an impostor one, and its just awesome! Hillarious and exhilirating in the same place, also the community is surprisingly normal and mature, pleasent surprise all around. Sure I will run into oddballs but the paywall really weeds the playerbase to be more normal than not.
On a Sale: MUST HAVE
On full price: If you have friends who you will play with, or if you are into the whole asymetrical multiplayer experience thing.
Seems like an okay game but public lobbies are just filled with people who dont speak the language that the public lobby is set to, no one plays like they should, tons of afk, i had to return this game because the players made it unplayable. If you want a fun time or try to have a fun time you gotta play with your friends sadly
Literally the first game that I play with 3 of my friends and matched with 4 randoms that were harassing me and 2 of my female friends JUST BECAUSE we are female. I do NOT recommend this game especially if you’re not much of a talker. This game is extremely toxic especially to female so far that I’ve experienced. Had multiple games that I’ve matched with guys that straight off harassing after we start talking. If you were to do a voice chat, please at least make everyone sound the same so that there’s no gender harassment. There isn’t any mute or report button either and I was forced to listen to all the disgusting conversation from those rude people (yes I could have left the game but my friends were still in there playing so I stayed, we were all annoyed and irritated by those rude people). Ladies, please protect yourself and stay safe.
I’d love to refund this game but it’s gifted by a friend. Unless I have a full lobby of friends, I will NEVER play this game ever again.
Great game - hosting/joining lobby takes longer than 5 minutes for an 8 man party. Lobby/in-game with randoms are EXTREMELY toxic. A report and/or ban button from host’s lobby should be included due to toxic grown ass man-child calling anyone b*tches just because they want to.
A LOT more tricky than Among Us. I’d say ‘Among Us’ is basically ‘Project Winter for dummies’. Not that that’s a bad thing.
So my first game (after finishing the tutorial) involves me running around like a headless chicken. Not knowing wtf to do, because you have to FIND the objectives without a gigantic indicator in a pretty large map. (unlike among us)
->MASSIVE<- learning curve. Only 1 map and it’s in front of the cabin. You’re supposed to look at it. Memorize where you’re going and trek there. Very survivalist. But might deter a lot of people.
Characters walk slowly and run after a few seconds, it felt like i needed to press the keys harder. Something to consider if you have Carpal Tunnel (which i do).
‘Among Us’ has everybody running around doing busywork to fill a win gauge. Project Winter you actually have ROLES. From Hunter to Scientist. everybody has something to do. This makes it quite exciting.
Hunger and Freezing Gauge makes it so you have to routinely resupply at the cabin. The game’s focus is mainly survivalist as opposed to “whodunnit”. Which is good. The thing about ‘Among Us’ is: If you constantly play as a crewmate, the game gets boring VERY quickly. But in this game, you could focus on supplying food for everyone…..and poisoning it.
After fixing the first repair site we set out looking for the communications tower when suddenly everything goes white and i’m in an area i don’t recognize. The panic sets in, then the hunger. I start frantically wandering.
I manage to find a walkie talkie! i shout into it, but only silence answers me. I guess i was the only one who found a walkie-talkie. After wandering around some more; by gods divine grace, i manage to find sustenance. Now all i need is warmth.
I BARELY manage to make it back to the cabin. Allow myself to bathe in the warmth of the fire. From what i remember, The map in front of the cabin marks the objective as being to the south. I prepare myself some berries for the long trek ahead. Exit the cabin determined to help my compatriots! ….and am immediately headshotted.
Game Over. Turns out i was the last survivor. It wasn’t silence that answered the walkie talkie, but Lady Death. They speak the same language.
